Exactly one year ago today, we met Brian Rose, a 32-year old athlete and baseball coach. He walked into our office less than a week after he heard the words: Stage 4 Melanoma, ready to hear about a new project we were working on for our friends at LIVESTRONG. At the time, LIVESTRONG was building a new Cancer Navigation Center at their headquarters and wanted to tell the story of their services by telling the story of someone using those services. Enter Brian Rose. A week later, he's in the hot seat, as we like to call it, sharing his story. [...]

Escaping the Texas heat, we travelled to Rwanda, Jordan, and Mexico to make a documentary and social media campaign for our friends at LIVESTRONG. Today, the first in a series of short character profiles was released online, focusing on 16 year-old Francine, from Rwinkwavu, Rwanda. More will follow. It takes a whole lot to be an intern here at Alpheus Media. You have to be enthusiastic, hard working, and eager to learn. This summer we've been fortunate to snag not one, but two awesome interns...Cristine Cardenas and Allison West.

In 2008, Alpheus and LIVESTRONG made their way around the world exploring the stigma associated with cancer. We met amazing people in Mexico, Japan, India, South Africa, and Italy and were honored to tell their stories in Stigma & Silence. I think it's safe to say that the experience affected all of us deeply. Click on the links for each country to revisit our journey.

Three years later, we're globetrotting with LIVESTRONG once again for a new global film about cancer. We'll be in Rwanda and Jordan where we'll shadow some remarkable programs extending the reach of cancer care to patients in remote areas of Africa and the Middle East. Stay tuned to meet a new group of people making a difference in the fight against cancer. In the meantime, follow the jump to see photos from our first couple of days in Rwanda. [...]
