Last Best Hope
About Last Best Hope
Six years in the making and funded entirely by grants and contributions, Last Best Hope is a riveting, intimate, yet little-known story about the Belgian Resistance in World War II and the American pilot they saved.
The 90-minute film played at festivals and special engagement screenings around the world before airing in prime time on PBS nationally in 2006. Last Best Hope has been re-aired repeatedly on PBS. Internationally, WGBH distributed the film in Europe, where it's been broadcast on VRT. Last Best Hope has garnered numerous awards, including the Silver Hugo Award for Excellence in Television as well as audience choice and best documentary awards from the Mendocino Film Festival.
Albert II, King of the Belgians, bestowed the decoration of Knight of the Order of the Crown on Alpheus Media Director Mat Hames and Director of Photography Wilson Waggoner, as well as Executive Producers David Grosvenor and Ramona Kelly.
